President-elect Donald Trump, speaking out after the New Year’s Day attack on revelers on New Orleans’ Bourbon Street, hinted at immigrant crime being behind the attack, which he called an “act of pure evil” and said his incoming administration will “fully support” the city.

In his statement on Truth Social, Trump also laid into “Democrats and the Fake News Media” for refuting his statements that the “criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country.”

Reports Wednesday, attributed to law enforcement sources, indicated that the truck used in the attack had come through Eagle Pass, Texas, a center of immigrant entry activity, two days ago.
