Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., told Newsmax on Monday that Republican former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s endorsement of Donald Trump in a Wall Street Journal editorial a day before Election Day was not too little, too late.
“I would take an endorsement from Nikki Haley if I was Donald Trump whenever it comes in, to be honest with you,” Scott told “The Record With Greta Van Susteren.” “One of the things that she represents in the party is a clear, consistent person who has been decisive in the process. Having her perhaps speak to the late-breaking voters who may be apathetic more than undecided, maybe she helps mobilize those folks.”
Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in the Trump administration, has had an often-combative relationship with her former boss. But Scott, who competed with Haley and Trump in the Republican presidential primaries, said anything that can help Trump win is welcomed.
