Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., said she will reintroduce legislation known as the WALL Act on Thursday to appropriate $25 billion to finish construction of a barrier between the U.S. and Mexico.

“President Donald Trump and the Republican majorities in the House and Senate have not just a mandate but an obligation to secure the border and protect American families,” Britt said in a statement to The Daily Caller. “The United States needs a completed border wall — it is just common sense to have a physical barrier in place to ensure only lawful entry into our country.”

Britt said wall construction funding would be paid for in part through the elimination of taxpayer-funded entitlement benefits for immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally.
