Rep. Spartz to Newsmax: Speaker’s CR Is ‘Sausage-Making,’ Not ‘Governing’

Rep. Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., said Wednesday that House Speaker Mike Johnson’s continuing resolution to fund the federal government until mid-March is “sausage-making,” not “governing.”

“I guess there is the difference between sausage-making and governing and leading or making deal with slush funds and try to jam Congress last second before Christmas,” Spartz told Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” “That’s business as usual, and it’s unfortunate reality. … I understand we have a reality, but unfortunately we haven’t been governing for a while and that is not governing. This is punting the issues and making deals to appease Democrats, not even talking to Republicans.”

In an interview earlier on “Wake Up America” on Wednesday, Johnson expressed confidence in his ability to retain the gavel in the new Congress, but Spartz said that his leadership abilities were being questioned by many from within his own party because of the spending package.
