Pressure isn’t only on newly reelected House Speaker Mike Johnson, but all House Republicans to “do the work of the American people” by fulfilling the promises made to the American people, Rep. Mike Lawler told Newsmax Sunday. 

“They gave us a House Republican majority, a Senate Republican majority, and the White House with President [Donald] Trump to deliver on our promises,” the New York Republican said on Newsmax’s “Sunday Report.” “The only way we’re going to do that is if we’re working together as one team.”

There is a great deal of work ahead, Lawler said, including reining in the size and scope of the government and extending tax cuts. This would include lifting the cap on the state and local tax (SALT) deduction, which he said is a “top priority” for him.
