Democrats are prioritizing investigations into Department of Government Efficiency chair Elon Musk over tackling government waste, fraud, and abuse, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., told Newsmax on Monday.

“All we’re doing is what we said we would do during the campaign,” Comer said on “Finnerty.” “We’re doing what [President] Donald Trump campaigned on and what the American people overwhelmingly voted in favor of, and that’s to try to get spending under control.”

During a House Oversight Committee hearing last week, Republicans voted down a Democrat motion to subpoena Musk regarding his influence on the U.S. government. After tense exchanges between members, the motion failed on a party-line vote, 20-19.
