Rep. Weber to Newsmax: GOP Conference Focused, Motivated

Rep. Randy Weber, R-Texas, told Newsmax on Thursday that Republicans in both the House and the Senate are “motivated, focused” and are preparing to push through President-elect Donald Trump’s America first agenda.

Republicans are eager to get Trump’s legislative priorities through as quickly as possible, yet there remains divide within the GOP whether the president-elect’s mandates are better served by dividing the priorities into two packages or attempting to get them through Congress all at once. Weber said his colleagues in the House are “absolutely working toward one bill.”

“As you know, there’s been some discussion between the Senate and the House and the president about a reconciliation bill. We’ve been meeting with [Speaker] Mike Johnson, [R-La.,] and all the committee chairs. We just had a great meeting yesterday afternoon to decide what needed to take place, what the timeframe was, what committees were involved,” Weber said during an appearance on “National Report.”
