HBO star Bill Maher on Monday rejected actor Jon Cryer’s argument that Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential election because “Americans hate inflation” and her lack of time to prepare, saying Democrats will “lose the next one too” if the party believes that.
In an interview on Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, Cryer blamed widespread concerns with inflation and other economic factors for President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in November, an explanation that Maher rejected.
“The trans people in my life feel, at this point, really frightened. … They’re in a place where they’re personally terrified right now, because not only was this election the outrage cycle of this particular election [that] targeted them, but, it was accepted,” Cryer said. “And people, you know, accept that it’s like, OK, yeah, we dehumanized them, it was politics, whatever.”
