Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is considering a backup plan to fund the government in the event his much-maligned 1,547 page continuing resolution fails in the House, The Hill reported on Wednesday.
Johnson is considering a “clean” continuing resolution, according to sources who spoke with the outlet. The plan B would remove the additional provisions that were included in the initial spending package negotiated by congressional leaders, including disaster aid and economic assistance for farmers.
Word of a backup plan comes as Johnson is facing intense criticism on his proposed CR from President-elect Donald Trump’s inner circle.
