NWS: A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow is expected tonight across the entire outlook area. Most locations should receive at least one-tenth of an inch of snow and sleet accumulation, with upwards of 1 to 2 inches possible in a zone extending from central to northeast Kansas. Locations south of I-70 may receive one-tenth to two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulation overnight with up to one-tenth of an inch of ice accumulation possible north of I-70. Areas of freezing rain will transition to freezing drizzle during the morning hours. Locations along and south of a Minneapolis to Holton line may see areas of freezing drizzle transition over to drizzle during the afternoon hours. Additional daytime ice accumulations of up to around one-tenth of an inch will be possible.
KSNT-TV: Another round of winter weather will move into our area (from the south) between 7-10pm. We’re looking at accumulating snow and sleet – and even the potential for more ice, heading into tomorrow morning. Take your time and prepare for tonight. The snow/sleet/ice will all be over with between 7 and 9am tomorrow. Overnight and morning commuters will be affected. – Kyle Borchert
Shawnee County Emergency Management: A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. Everyone is encouraged to start preparing now by assembling their emergency kits and implementing their personal emergency plans. EOC will be working with our partners to provide updates as the models and other tools bring about valid results.
